What we Teach and Share

We are a young club that is offering instruction in:

  • Practical Kung fu
  • Modern Wushu
  • Simplified Taichi
  • The mysteries of Yoga, Chi-gong, and Meditation
  • Insights into the Sacred Path of a Warrior (Wude)

However, techniques and routines from other systems and supporting disciplines are covered also. Check out our White Crane lineage chart.

In the beginning students are introduced to the basics (applicable to many martial art systems). The basics cover several techniques for different ranges, strategies, and weapons. At the intermediate and advance levels, students learn more advance techniques and routines. Check out our Curriculum Overview.

We teach martial arts for sport, self-defense, health and fitness, and character building. We  can teach you the following: Vajrayana White Crane kungfu, Yang Taichi, Modern Wushu (including Sanda), Shaolin Chuan, Wudang Chuan, Hatha Yoga, Buddhist-Taoist philosophy, and Buddhist Wude.

Our Main System

Vajrayana (Tibetan) White Crane (also called Sijong Pak Hok in Cantonese) is a branch of the Lions Roar system of traditional kung fu.

Lions Roar Kung Fu was established by a Vajrayana Buddhist Priest back in the 1400's. It was such an effective system that it became the imperial style of China, i.e., the style of the Emperor and his body guards.

From its beginning, Lions Roar incorporated external and internal methods, long and short range techniques, kickboxing and wrestling, and Indo-Chinese-Tibetan medical and philosophical theories.

Other systems that descend from the Lions Roar kungfu system include: the Lama System, Lama Pai, Hop Gar, the Secret Sect style, and many others.

Our Heritage

Our Chief Instructor, Charles DaCosta, is from the USA, and has over 40 years experience with many different styles of martial arts. However, his specialty is Chinese Martial Arts, and his primary systems are Vajrayana Pak Hok, Shaolin Chuan, Wudang Chuan, and Taichi Chuan.

Charles' most important instructors are Sifu Chan, Sifu Hulton, and Sensei Bomani. Through these men he was initiated into the higher mysteries of martial arts, often called "The Way." Here the Art, Science, and the Philosophy are the training.

Sifu Maurice Hulton has been practicing Shaolin and Wudang styles since the early 60's. He has also taught dance and different forms of movement therapy.

Sifu Kwon Yu Chan has been practicing Pak Hok Pai since the 60's.  He is a high level Professor at Hong Kong University.

Sensei Nantambu Camara Bomani is a master of Okinawan Goju Ryu and Okinawan weapons. Before the 70's, he lived and trained Okinawa for over 14 years.
